The frugal homemaker that I am…

WE love popcorn around here. Especially during the cold afternoons when we are snuggled on the couch watching Dr. Phil ~ KIDDING!!!! No, really we like to watch family, seasonal, or educational movies. WE love Netflixs!food14.gif

Someone posted on one of my yahoo groups this Microwave popcorn recipe idea….

1/2-cup unpopped popcorn
2-3 tbsp melted butter
Salt to taste
1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Paper lunch bag
Large bowl

Pour the popcorn in the paper bag and fold the top of the bag twice,
so it’s closed.
Put the bag in the microwave and cook on high for 2-3 min, or ’til the
pops are 5 sec apart.
Take the bag out and pour the popcorn into a bowl and drizzle it with
butter, then toss it with salt and nutritional yeast, as desired.

In a recent FDA Total Diet Study, popcorn was one of the ten foods
most contaminated with pesticides.

The chemical diacetyl, found in butter flavoring, has been linked to
lung disease

Popcorn in processed, microwaveable bags costs up to five times more
than buying the kernels and popping your own. Fewer bags equals
smaller garbage piles.
